First, please join me in thanking the Lord for the 59 golden years of DBRFI, for the great men and women who pioneered the establishment of the first professional real estate group in Davao... We really owe a lot from them...
The 59th anniversary celebration last Saturday was made successful because of the collaborative effort of everybody with special mention on the following dedicated realtors who have shared their time, talents, treasures in order to come up with a very good event:

Dear Fellow REALTORS,
September 18, 2010 is a RED LETTER DAY for all of us as we will be celebrating our 59th Founding Anniversary. Thanks to the men and women who braved the challenges of organizing the first ever professional real estate organization in Davao City 59 years ago. As the proverbial saying goes, the rest is history. And so it is just fitting that we come together to celebrate, have fun and fellowship with our colleagues and friends as we give due recognition to the pillars of our organization who unselfishly rendered their services without any hesitation.
Event: DBRFI 59th Anniversary Celebration
Date : September 18, 2010
Time : 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Venue: Top of the Apo, Apo View Hotel
Attire: Formal Evening Wear
Assessment: P590.00 / pax
Food - we will have dinner buffet, lechon and a whole fresh tuna direct from GenSan (sashimi)
What do we expect?
As what we have announced during the last general membership meeting, it would be a night of music, fun and thanksgiving.
Why Music?
We have invited a professional pianist and a pretty lady singer to provide entertainment. We can also jam with them and sing to our heart's delight. There are also special entertainment numbers to be rendered by some of our talented fellow realtors. Literally, we will be dancing the night away. We have invited 2 good-looking "dance instructors" and 2 pretty "dance instructress" to help us enjoy dancing to the maxxx.... Oh, BTW, we also have a pretty lady, a professional emcee who will facilitate the program...
Why Fun?
Singing is fun... and so is dancing.... Aside from that, each and everyone present will be receiving "Anniversary Give-Away"... It's not big-time though, but a remembrance worth keeping. We are also raffling off some minor items and a major major "Brand New Netbook".... Isn't this such a big fun?
Why Thanksgiving?
After all these years, we have not given due recognition the men and women who were instrumental in organizing the real estate brokers in Davao City. Mind you... most of us are not still around that time, so we are not only recognizing the years past, but their efforts and dedication to our cause is really commendable. Michael Jackson said: "THIS IS IT", and so we declare "THIS IS REALLY IT"...
1) First, we recognize the first incorporators who formed the first professional organization of real estate brokers
2) Second, we give thanks and recognition to the past presidents who bravely faced the challenges being one
3) Third, we confer Lifetime Achievement Award to REALTORS who have extended exemplary services in whatever
capacity they serve
4) Fourth, we also recognize the support given by the Department of Trade & Industry during those years that we were
under their jurisdiction
5) Fifth, our celebration will be graced by the top echelons of PAREB, our mother organization, namely:
a. National President Emmanuel H. Bocaling
b. Senior Vice Pres. Daphne Bereciarte
c. National Director Olive Ramos
d. National Treasurer Cherith Domingo (still for confirmation)
6) Sixth, Distribution of Certificates and Pinning of PAREB Lifetime Membership pin
As what we have promised, this is going to be a once in a blue moon grand celebration which we do not want to miss... and which we would like to share with everyone including your guests ( your Better-Half, Significant Other, Special Someone, BFFs, etc).
At this juncture, may I appeal for everybody's support in making this event a big success. Kindly relay the good news and extend the invitation to your friends, associates and board applicants....

Excerpt from The Right to Lead, by John Maxwell
What gives a man or woman the right to lead? It certainly isn't gained by election or appointment. Having position, title, rank or degrees doesn't qualify anyone to lead other people. And the ability doesn't come automatically from age or experience, either.
No, it would be accurate to say that no one can be given the right to lead. The right to lead can only be earned. And that takes time.
The Kind of Leader Others Want to Follow
The key to becoming an effective leader is not to focus on making other people follow, but on making yourself the kind of person they want to follow. You must become someone others can trust to take them where they want to go.
As you prepare yourself to become a better leader, use the following guidelines to help you grow:
1. Let go of your ego.
The truly great leaders are not in leadership for personal gain. They lead in order to serve other people. Perhaps that is why Lawrence D. Bell remarked, "Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things, and I'll show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things."
2. Become a good follower first.
Rare is the effective leader who didn't learn to become a good follower first. That is why a leadership institution such as the United States Military Academy teaches its officers to become effective followers first - and why West Point has produced more leaders than the Harvard Business School.
3. Build positive relationships.
Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. That means it is by nature relational. Today's generation of leaders seems particularly aware of this because title and position mean so little to them. They know intuitively that people go along with people they get along with.
4. Work with excellence.
No one respects and follows mediocrity. Leaders who earn the right to lead give their all to what they do. They bring into play not only their skills and talents, but also great passion and hard work. They perform on the highest level of which they are capable.
5. Rely on discipline, not emotion.
Leadership is often easy during the good times. It's when everything seems to be against you - when you're out of energy, and you don't want to lead - that you earn your place as a leader. During every season of life, leaders face crucial moments when they must choose between gearing up or giving up. To make it through those times, rely on the rock of discipline, not the shifting sand of emotion.
6. Make adding value your goal.
When you look at the leaders whose names are revered long after they have finished leading, you find that they were men and women who helped people to live better lives and reach their potential. That is the highest calling of leadership - and its highest value.
7. Give your power away.
One of the ironies of leadership is that you become a better leader by sharing whatever power you have, not by saving it all for yourself. You're meant to be a river, not a reservoir. If you use your power to empower others, your leadership will extend far beyond your grasp.
Renowned leaders have done these same things and earned the right to lead others. Because of the courage they found and the character they displayed, other people recognized their admirable qualities and felt compelled to follow them.
The followers who looked to these leaders learned from them, and so can we. As you explore their worlds and words, remember that it takes time to become worthy of followers. Leadership isn't learned or earned in a moment.
